A bit about me..

Rory Bailey

Hello I am Rory. I am currently the London based European Digital Project Manager at Blue Hive - Ogilvy, working on the Ford Of Europe account. I manage the localisation and deployment of bespoke digital projects across 24 markets. I have experience working externally and internally on two of the largest brands in the world having previously completed a year long internship at The Walt Disney Company.

I am a Graduate of the University of Kent achieving a 2:1 (bsc Hons) in Multimedia Technology and Design.

I am fascinated by all aspects of the Digital Media business and its huge impact on the way we work and play. The unpredictable and innovative nature of digital technologies make for an exciting and changing workplace. I thrive in such a dynamic marketplace for creativity and enthusiasm.

Outside of work I am keen sportsman, playing amateur football. It has been said that Gary Neville is an old Rory Bailey.

Project Manager 2014-15

As a project manager at Blue Hive I managed the outsourcing of content authoring. This involved, designing and implementing new workflows and processes, training and support. Through this i have implemented various project management methodologies such as Agile and Scrum. I have integrated JIRA and Confluence into all phases of a digital projects I have worked on.

My primary responsibility is to deliver digital projects to tight client deadlines. By remotely managing an external small team of content authors and working with local market teams as their point of contact.

Some other responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement project plans for the entire lifespan of digital campaigns
  • To ensure that deployment standards are met by internal stakeholders
  • Ensure market requirements and constraints are considered in the production brief
  • Manage any market requests
  • Work with local markets managing their expectations and requirements for bespoke digital campaigns
  • Track the status of digital projects for over 20 marketsc
  • Work with all stakeholders to create and communicate a best practice process
  • Work with third party suppliers to ensure they are correctly briefed on technical and logistical requirements
  • Manage digital delivery channels, ensuring appropriate process and documentation exists

Project Co-ordinator 2013-14

I began my time at BlueHive as a localisation and deployment project co-ordinator. I worked closely with Account and Project managers across Europe and centrally in the UK to deliver high quality award winning digital projects.

I liaised with 20+ local markets to localize European versions, with varying requirements and specifications, of Ford sites and applications.

I created and edited websites within CMSs and HTML.

I supported project managers, developers, designers and account managers to ensure large scale projects were delivered on time, on budget and fulfilled client standards.

I worked within digital projects from inception to delivery ensuring the best and most up to date online practices were being fulfilled.

Digital Marketing / Business Management Intern 2011-12

During my placement I completed two roles, Digital Marketing intern working within the regional marketing team for the Disney Channels and Business Management Intern in Disney Online. My main roles and responsibilities were:

To gather and interpret statistics on the performance of Disney’s websites, being the first point of contact to colleagues and departments globally. I supported production and design teams in creating digital content and reviewed digital content and recommended improvements.

Bsc (Hons) Multimedia Technology and Design with a year in industry (2:1 Achieved)

Over the course my degree course I acquired skills in a number of disciplines including video production, website design / development, 3D modelling and design. For my final year project, I developed a website and short introductory film for the re-launch of the singer songwriter Georgie Williams.

Other projects completed in my course include:

  • A short visual effect composition
  • A flash based portfolio for an amateur artist

I attended Coopers Technology College between 2002 and 2009. In this time I achieved A level passes; in Business studies (B), Geography (C), IT (C). AS level passes in General Studies (B) and 12 GCSEs passes, including a double pass for the Dida qualification in IT.


DG Developments

I created a website for DG Developments. The brief was to create a simple yet stylish site, to showcase previous work and advertise the firm for future business.

After university I was tasked to design a new set of stationery as well as creating a site for a local Surveying firm. The brief was to deliver a site for potential customers to discover the firm's reputation and services.

Urban Invasion

In my final year of university I completed a visual effects module. Part of the module was to create the above visual effects composition. It uses greenscreen technology merging 3D animation with studio filming.

War Scene

During my second year of university I completed a 3D modelling module. In this module I created the above film, modelling in Autodesk Maya, Mudbox and Photoshop, using Adoobe Premier and After Effects to create the film.
